Ione Food Pantry

The Emergency Food Pantry of Ione serves Ione as well other outlying areas such as Metaline and Metaline Falls. Ione pantry does a lot with a little, functioning out of an old 8′ by 25’railroad car. Recently relocated to 404 Houghton where there is room to build a larger facility! Keep your eye out for a future pole barn to house the Emergency Food Pantry of Ione.

There small facilities don’t stop them from serving the community well. They are not going to let anyone go hungry.

Each month they serve 130-150 households, many are fixed income seniors or low-income families. Close community ties keep them in contact with the school, so they are able to operate a backpack program that sends extra food home with children in need over the weekend. All five volunteers have full-time jobs, but they manage to continue serving others at the food pantry.
